A Promise of Elopement Turned into a Bid Farewell Part I.
One night in 1942, Louis Cartier made an appointment with Jeanne Toussaint to the River Seine. Jeanne Toussaint wanted to take the initiative, to withdraw from this tortured and hopeless love that had been entangled for years. However, she didn’t expect Louis Cartier to come up with a red jewelry box — a large pear-shaped diamond ring was lying in it. He confessed to Jeanne Toussaint that, he had decided to give up everything about the family and company of Cartier, and elope with her!
Jeanne Toussaint was crying with joy at the time. She thought she had been suffering for so many years, and finally saw the light of a brighter future, but she never imagined that a promise of elopement would turn into a bid farewell! They met with a car accident on the way back, in which Louis Cartier was accidentally killed; and Jeanne Toussaint survived in danger, but had also fallen into a coma for a week. When she woke up and heard such grievous news, she simply felt as if she was in a living hell, she wished she had died together with him. . . . . .
